How Arclo handles your family’s data.
This page summarises, in plain language, what personal data Arclo collects and how it is used. It is written to align with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
What we collect
The complete list, in plain language:
- Your account email address, sign-in credentials, and the display name you choose for yourself.
- Your child’s profile as you enter it: a name (a first name or nickname is enough), grade level, and — optionally — year of birth, gender, and pronouns. We never ask for identification numbers.
- Your child’s school, only if you choose to select one on the School Plan page so the weekly plan can follow its teaching schedule.
- Assessment and practice responses, which our measurement engine uses to estimate ability and track progress.
- Question text extracted from homework photos you choose to upload. The original photos are discarded after extraction and are never stored.
- Messages your family sends to Ask Arclo, kept so the tutor can carry context between visits.
- A WhatsApp number, only if you opt in to the weekly WhatsApp digest in Settings.
- For paid plans, your subscription status from Stripe. Payment happens on Stripe’s own pages — card numbers never reach Arclo’s servers. We also keep basic service records, such as daily usage counts toward plan limits.
- On our public pages only — such as the landing, pricing, and try-it-out pages — privacy-respecting product analytics: which pages are visited and how visitors found us (for example, a link shared in a WhatsApp group). There is no ad tracking, and no analytics inside the signed-in family workspace.
- If you add family members to the weekly update — a co-parent, grandparent, or tutor — their name and the contact detail you enter (email address or WhatsApp number). Used only to send the updates you configured; you can edit or stop them in Settings at any time.
What it is used for
- Measuring your child’s ability and progress.
- Choosing and explaining one most-worth-doing next step each week — the weekly plan.
- Progress summaries and service emails for your own family.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not run third-party advertising.
- We never store original homework photos — only the extracted question text.
- When tutor exchanges are sampled into internal quality-review logs, direct identifiers (NRIC/FIN, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses) are scrubbed first.
Retention and your rights
- Data is kept while your account is active, so your child’s learning history stays useful to you.
- Signed-in parents can request a data export, a correction, or deletion of a child profile or the whole account from Settings. We process these requests manually and confirm by email.
- If you do not have an account — or simply prefer email — write to hello@abilitycheckup.com and we will handle your request the same way.
